Artful Citizen creates innovative marketing campaigns that connect brands to arts consumers, arts creators and influencers.

We enhance brand cache via creative marketing integration with contemporary artistic culture.

We are also passionate about providing media & arts training to people in under-privileged areas.

John Healy: Chief Artful Officer

John Healy is the founder of Artful Citizen.

As leader of Artful Citizen, he combines deep insight into the arts with solid marketing chops to craft win-win campaigns for brands and artists.

With a degree in economics from University College Cork, John is a former leader of CNN's digital media commercial dept. in NYC., and he was also a "Mad Man" for several years in major Manhattan advertising agencies (Y&R, Ogilvy & Mather).

John has been a featured media industry conference public speaker, including Media 2020, National Digital Media & Marketing Summit and Product Camp Dublin.

An arts/business maverick, John has forged an entrepreneurial path in arts and business: a filmmaker, screenwriter and actor along with a career in advertising.

John was recently awarded an "artist entrepreneur residency" in the Washington, DC government sponsored "202Creates" program.

Motto: "Humor is no laughing matter."

Nassim Geagea: Chief Film Officer

Nassim Geagea leads Artful Citizen's film dept. as Producer and Director of Photography.

Nassim studied film & communications at Universite Antonine and is an award winning filmmaker at the Richmond International Film Festival, Malmo Arab film festival and Tampere film festival.

Nassim strives to be a maverick in film by pushing the boundaries of high-speed filming and analogue photography

His work has brought him around the world, including Cuba, Mexico, Poland, Egypt, Morocco and Quatar.

Motto: "What doesn't transmit light creates its own darkness."

Delmar Patterson: Assoc. Creative Director

Delmar X. Patterson brings a passion to creative ideation along with skills in video camera, film editing and graphic design.

With a degree in creative advertising from St. John's University, Delmar has also served as a production manager at local non-profit community access stations DCTV and Montgomery Community Media.

He has positively impacted local non-profits and artists via his maverick creative flair and problem-solving skills.  

Delmar strives to make a meaningful difference in local communities.

Maryanne Pollock: Artist & Arts Educator

Maryanne Pollock is a DC based artist and arts educator.

Maryanne received her BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, Italy. She continued studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Corcoran College of Art and Design and American University

She represented the United States in a contextual exhibition at the 54th Venice Biennale, and in the Arts in Embassies Program in Egypt, and had solo exhibitions in Paris, Glasgow, Basel, and Cairo. 

Her work has been included in exhibitions selected by Jennifer Farrell, curator from the Metropolitan Museum of Art,  and by Paula Morsiani of PAFA Brodsky Center at PrintMatters Houston.

Publications include Home and Design, Luxe, Traditional Home, Professional Artist (cover), and the Washington Post. Collections of her work include Marriott Marquis DC, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Qatar Foundation and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

James Ty Cumbie: Creative Director

Ty gets his creative groove on every day, designing and creating for this dynamic upstart, Artful Citizen, and our culture loving clients. 

As a 30 year celebrated Art & Creative Director, Ty's connections to the arts includes his time as an Art Director for Jazz at Lincoln Center, Opera America and, oh yes, his own  brand, Tiny Vinyl Record Store in Adams Morgan, DC!

Ty developed the Savannah Music Festival's (SMF) visual brand from the ground up and helped grow the festival from 7 events to the largest musical arts festival in Georgia, with record ticket sales and the highest brand recall awareness and earned media in its category.

Ty's marketing "revolves" around edgy ideas and visuals, to position brands as cultural evangelists.  He also enjoys appealing to one of the hippest markets on the planet, i.e. his vinyl record consumers.

Ty carries his infectious creative spirit to the wonderful concepts and designs he develops for Artful Citizen's clients

Tara O'Grady: Performing Artist & Arts Educator

Tara O'Grady is an author, educator and entertainer who has toured the globe.  

Tara has a Masters degree in Education with a focus on literature, performing arts and visual arts.  She is the daughter of Irish immigrants and lives in New York.

As a Master Teacher she provides workshops on Mindfulness & Creativity to awaken audiences to their hidden creative ability.

Tara has taught writing, drama, film, creativity and dream work at cultural art institutions, universities and international conferences including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York and The Studios of Key West in Florida.

She is also a soulful songwriter and singer and has five albums of original American Roots music including jazz, blues and folk.

Tara has performed with her award winning musicians at venues from Manhattan to Budapest to the Cork Jazz Festival in Ireland and the South By Southwest arts festival in Austin, Texas.
